Behind the Helmet: A Conversation with SleepyThePrince

Behind the Helmet: A Conversation with SleepyThePrince

Being part of the MENU video shoot gave us the opportunity to witness the creative process behind the scenes and capture moments beyond the final release. Between the cameras, lighting setups, and constant movement on set, there was a clear sense of purpose behind every detail.

Following the shoot, we reached out to SleepyThePrince with a few questions. We wanted to learn more about the person behind the artist. The journey before the music, the meaning behind the helmet, and the challenges that come with pursuing a creative vision.

His answers were thoughtful, honest, and a reminder that every artist's story extends far beyond what we see on screen.

The Helmet

The helmet became your signature. What were you trying to protect or say when you put it on for the first time?

"Since the first time I put on the helmet, I wanted to protect my personal life, my family and my friends."

The helmet has become an unmistakable part of SleepyThePrince's identity. While many see it as a symbol of mystery, its original purpose was much more personal: creating a boundary between the artist and the people closest to him.

Before the Name

Who were you before the name SleepyThePrince?

"Before the name or the creation of SleepyThePrince, I was simply a student of social sciences and philosophy. I also practiced dance, theater, athletics, and much more."

Before music became the focus, his interests stretched across multiple disciplines. From philosophy and social sciences to athletics and performance arts, those experiences helped shape the perspective he brings to his work today.

Belief Comes First

Did anyone believe in you before you believed in yourself?

"No."

Sometimes the shortest answers leave the strongest impression.

Building something from nothing often starts with believing in yourself before anyone else does.

The Reality Behind the Music

What's the part of making music nobody sees that is actually the hardest?

"The hardest part of making music is trying to live this dream without falling into cycles of scarcity, without becoming distant from those I love, and without feeling undervalued, in contrast to a fast-paced, demanding outside world with increasingly unnecessary information."

While listeners experience the finished product, artists live through everything that happens before it reaches an audience. The pressure, uncertainty, sacrifices, and constant balancing act are often invisible to everyone except the people living it.

SleepyThePrince's answer highlights a reality shared by many creatives: success isn't only about making great work. It's also about preserving your relationships, your values, and your sense of self along the way.

Final Thoughts

What makes this conversation interesting isn't just the story behind the helmet. It's the perspective behind it.

Through his answers, SleepyThePrince offers a glimpse into the discipline, self-awareness, and determination required to build a creative path on your own terms.
